Samuel’s Dad’s Thoughts

Home birth was definitely the right decision for us. However, it may not be right for you. Jill and Shoshanah will help you discover if it is or not. For us it was a risky decision. Not because home birth is inherently risky. It’s because my wife is a Type 1 diabetic. And almost all other medical professionals would certainly agree that this would be too great a risk to take. Ask us how we know! Jill and Shoshanah looked at our situation objectively and asked the right questions to determine if we were eligible for home birth. They didn’t default to industry standards or reach for their “ineligible” rubber stamp. From the initial interview to the moment we held our new son in our hands, we felt properly led. And we felt we had trusted partners in this process. Not a bunch of doctors whose motives I may later question. We genuinely felt like we were in good hands and that we could trust them. They used their medical experience and God given intuition to give us the confidence we needed during an uncertain (and a little scary) time in our life. They encouraged us to ask lots of questions and reminded us constantly that we will not burden them in anyway if we have to ask questions. I am grateful for their efforts and for what they do everyday to keep this a viable birthing option for so many. It’s not easy to be an out-of-hospital midwife during this time but they follow their conviction that home birth is the better way to bring a life into this world. And this conviction is a clear indicator that they are led by proper motives. And someone with proper motives is someone I want delivering my baby. Home birth is not suppose to be a taboo thing. It’s how God designed it and perfectly safe as long as you have a trusted and experienced team. Shoshanah and Jill take their understanding of what your body was designed for and combine it with centuries of medical knowledge to give you the best birthing experience you can get.  I trust them and they will definitely be the first people we call if a certain test ever reads positive again!
